CESS Institute contributes to the Continental Consultation meeting to review and finalize indicators for the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) from 5-8 May 2015 in Algeria

             

 

CESS Institute was invited to Expert Group Meeting to review and validate the MDGs 2015 Report on “Assessing Progress towards the MDGs”: 3-4 May 2015 and to the Continental Consultation meeting to review and finalize indicators for the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) from 5-8 May 2015, both in Algiers, Algeria. The meeting was attended by MDGs focal persons from all 53 African Countries, statisticians and representatives from partner organizations.

 The overall objective of the Expert Group Meeting was to review and validate the draft 2015 report on Assessing progress in Africa toward the MDGs jointly prepared by the AUC, the AfDB, the UNDP and the UNECA; with a view of facilitating the finalization of the report as well as heighten its quality. The final report prepared will be submitted to the next Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government for consideration in June 2015 in South Africa.

The Continental Consultation Meeting reviewed Africa contribution to indicators and indicator framework of goals and targets of the post-2015 development agenda. The role of CESS Institute, represented by Dr. Gaston Gohou in this meeting was to harmonize the indicators of the 17 goals and ensure that each of the indicators is measurable and statistically robust.
