MOU Signing between AFRISTAT and CESS Insitute

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on behalf of CESS Institute and l’Observatoire Économique et Statistique d’Afrique Subsaharienne (AFRISTAT) on February 2015.

 

 

The MOU reaffirms the commitment of AFRISTAT and CESS Institute to their objectives and their respective functions to promote sustainable development as well as supporting the capacity building of human resources on economic statistics in the region.

AFRSITAT and CESS Institute agreed to combine their efforts in order to increase their effectiveness as far as possible and to act in close cooperation in the following areas:

  • Economic and financial intelligence in Africa;
  • Analysis and Data surveys (households, enterprises, etc..), and corporate balance sheets;
  • Development and promotion of statistical data for the development, Monitoring and Evaluation of projects, programs and policies;
  •  Promotion and development of statistical data to help with economic decision making;
  •  Enhancement of human resources and respective activities of the two structures at the regional and international levels;
  •  Research and publication of studies based on data collected by AFRISTAT;

 

 

The MOU was signed by Dr. Cosme Vodounou, Director General of AFRISTAT and Dr. Gaston Gohou, CEO of CESS Institute. 

Dr. Gohou welcomed the opportunity of developing a close cooperation with AFRISTAT and acknowledged the important of this cooperation to contribute to the development of economic statistics in Sub-Saharan region. He is looking forward to seeing both institutions work in a collaborative and complementary way to effectively address some of the needs and concerns of the region.
